9 civilians martyred, 6 militants killed in thwarted Banu Cantt attack by the security forces

At least nine civilians lost their lives while 16 others incurred injuries. This is after the security forces collapsed an attack on the Bannu Cantt and in the process, killed 6 militants.

As per security sources, the terrorists tried and failed to breach the Bannu Cantt base on the day of the incident just after Iftar. The plan was dealt with head on and decisively by the security forces so it did not come to fruition. 

In what turned into panic mode, the terrorist drove two vehicles packed with explosives into the walls of the Cantt which blew apart in frantic explosions.  

The damage caused by these explosions to resulted majorly in the damage of a mosque which was in the vicinity. 

Further reports claimed that the roof of a nearby building caved in which led to the martyrdom of nine innocent civilians while inflicting injuries on 16 others.  

From these sources, 6 of the militants were confirmed killed by vigilant sentries at several ingress points while the rest of the armed men-terrorists were boxed in within determined boundaries.  

There is still an active clearance operation from the security forces and from the reports, continues until the last militant has been neutralized.
